Description

I enjoy making spiral-plied yarns: probably my favorite of the two-ply handspun yarns. It’s achieved by spinning a thicker singles (in this case, the grey) and plying it with a thinner singles. There is a technique to make the spiral more pronounced, but you can also ply these two singles normally and still achieve a spiral, just slightly more subtle.

I like to let the thick singles develop naturally, so there are some thick and thin areas, but not in regular intervals like a true thick-and-thin textured yarn.

The result is a more organic, less predictable handspun with a lot of interest and a lot of fun to add to knitting, crochet or weaving projects. Merino means it’s super squishy and soft and totally snuggable. 🙂

Dyed in my home studio and spun in my home in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Ships from Canada’s east coast (Maritime provinces), with tracking.

Thanks so much for checking out my work! 🙂
