Description
Two completely different skeins of yarn using the same materials and dye colors in different ways. I love to experiment with color and spinning techniques. I simply can’t keep them all, I will never find time to knit them all up, so I sell many of my handspun yarn creations for the enjoyment of others.
Skein 1 – SUMMER
This vibrant skein is comprised of 2-ply yarn spun from white Merino wool top. After spun in its natural color, I speckle dyed it with both full and low water immersion techniques. Turquoise, orange, bright lime green and grey speckles are the main colors in this unique skein of yarn.
2ply; 2.6oz/74gr; 266 yards; approx. 12 wpi; light and soft in feel
Skein 2 – AUTUMN
Using the same colors as SUMMER, merino top roving was dyed using low water immersion technique. It’s always fascinating to see how different roving dyes to yarn, how the colors blend and mix together, and how much more muted the colors become being drawn out during spinning.
2ply; 3.9oz/112gr; 226 yards; approx. 10 wpi; light and soft in feel
Handspun on my Lendrum & plied on my SpinOlution wheel; dyed in my home studio in Nova Scotia, Canada
